…The Israels, parents of five grown children who are starting families of their own, worked with interior designer Georgia Carlee to include resortlike amenities to pamper guests of all ages. Most notable of these is the well-designed kitchen that serves the quest suite, located at the far end of an upper-level bedroom hallway. It's a space that's equally handsome and hardworking.
Small in size but big in function, the 10x8 ft kitchen offers full-size appliances, a movable island, ample prep areas, custom cabinets, and beefy shelves that handily keep everyday dishware in sight and in reach. Shimmering surfaces and a wall of water-facing windows magnify light and buoy spirits
The white subway-tile backsplash partners with Salinas marble countertops, white-painted walls, and a soaring coffered ceiling to make the kitchen feel more spacious than its compact dimensions would suggest.
"We tucked a lot in that little space," Carlee says. "That rolling cart is key to its efficiency. The butcher-block top acts as a table for food prep, bar service, and eating. The cart supplies storage, completes the work triangle, and offers a place for people to gather."
